What to Pack for Cove Early Learning

Starting at Cove Early Learning is an exciting milestone for your family and packing the right essentials helps your child feel comfortable, confident, and ready for a wonderful day of learning and play!

To make mornings easier, here’s a simple guide on what to pack each day for your child.

1. A Change of Clothes

Children are naturally curious and sometimes that means getting a little messy! Whether it’s water play, painting, or outdoor adventures, please pack:

• At least 2 complete changes of clothes

• Weather-appropriate extras, such as a jumper or rain coat

• Clearly label all items with your child’s name

2. Sun Safety Essentials

At Cove, we promote safe outdoor play and sun protection every day. Please pack:

• A wide-brimmed hat (we provide you with a Cove bucket hat upon enrolment to help)

• A water bottle (refillable)

• Sunscreen (we provide Cancer Council 50+ sunscreen if you prefer to use ours)

3. Comfort Items

If your child is new to care or still settling in, familiar items from home can help them feel secure. You may include:

• A familiar toy or blanket

• Dummy or pacifier (if used) — in a named, sealed container

• A family photo

• A special story book you enjoy reading together at home 

4. Meals and Snacks

Our service provides nutritious freshly cooked meals and snacks throughout the day, prepared by our on-site chef using in season, local ingredients. We are also confident in ensure all allergies and special dietary requirements are taken care of within our centre. 

Families only need to pack:

• Bottles, formula, or breast milk (for infants)

5. Rest Time Essentials

For rest and relaxation time, please bring:

• A fitted cot or bed sheet, we find that children feel more safe and secure when they can smell a resemblance of home. 

• A small blanket or comfort toy 

• All bedding is returned home after their week with us has finished for washing.

6. Something to Share

We love celebrating each child’s world beyond Cove! We encourage your child to bring:

• A photo, book, or special object that reflects their interests or family
  This supports our learning program and builds connections in the classroom.

• We also love hearing about what exciting adventures your family might get up too on weekends and when not at the service. 

 A Few Tips

• Clearly label every item with your child’s full name.

• Do not pack anything precious or expensive that you do not wish to get dirty.

• Check your child’s bag daily for soiled clothes, artwork, or important notes. Our Educators will do a fantastic job anyway in keeping you informed.

• Keep your child’s spare clothes seasonal, please swap them out as the weather changes.
